NSS

The NSS (National Service Scheme) was launched in India on 24th September 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. Its main objective is personality development through community services. It provides opportunities to the students to participate in different community development service programmes which enables them to get experience and exposure even outside the educational institution. The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU’’, which upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of others point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings.

Keeping in mind the aims and objectives of NSS, the Madhabdev College Unit of NSS has been rendering its best to contribute to the nation building process through various community services. The unit promotes the best practices for its volunteers which can help in cultivating their inner strength and hidden talents in order to make them a good citizen of the country. Apart from maintaining discipline at every step of their life, the volunteers of the college unit do their best to maintain cleanliness in the college campus and also in its beautification by doing plantation in the college premises and regular cleaning works. The unit adopts a flower garden inside the college premises.

The NSS unit of Madhabdev College undertakes various types of skill development as well as orientation programmes for its volunteers. The volunteers of the unit participate in various state, regional and national level camps organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The unit also organize an Annual Special Camp in its adopted village. Though the college unit of NSS has near about 200 volunteers at present, being attracted by its activities, a growing number of the students of the college show their keen interest to join NSS every year for which in college is planning to start a second unit.
